Single-Session Workshop

Halloween is on the way, and what better time than this to explore making monsters in clay? This one-day workshop for young artists uses the basic pinch pot as a starting point for a bevy of monsters sporting teeth, spikes, horns-and whatever else our young artists can cook up. From the spooky to the silly, monsters are on the menu for young creators at the Art House. Come join the fun! Course fees include all materials, instruction and firing costs. All levels of experience welcome.

Jane Hill is a local artist and art teacher with years of experience teaching students of all ages. She holds an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute of Art, and now works primarily in ceramic sculpture and drawing. In addition to teaching in the St. Tammany Talented Art Program, from which she has recently retired, Jane has taught at the New Orleans Museum of Art, Baltimore Clayworks, The Clay Center of New Orleans, and for two years was the lead art teacher at the Headwaters Montessori School in Austin, Texas. Her own art has earned grants from the Joan Mitchell Foundation, The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, and the Louisiana Division of the Arts. She was selected as a “Restoration Resident” artist at A Studio in the Woods-A Program of Tulane University, and completed a residency at Watershed Center of the Ceramic Arts with a “Kiln God” scholarship. Jane has taught adult/college art courses at Maryland Institute College of Art, Towson University, Southern University at New Orleans, Delgado Community College and the University of New Orleans as well as at The St. Tammany Art Association. She is thrilled to be returning to the Art House once more!
