This four-week course meets wednesday october 29, november 5, & 12
In this beginner-level course, students will create a 6”x6” stained glass mosaic. Tools, materials, and safety practices in mosaic art will be discussed. A choice of designs as well as all materials and tools are provided, but the student may also bring their own (the design will need to fit a 6x6 substrate). This class is designed to give the student enough information and practice to continue with mosaics on their own. The student will finish their piece in three classes:
Week 1. Introduction to materials and their safe use
Week 2: Transferring the design to a substrate and adhering the pieces
Week 3: Grouting
Students may also bring in materials to incorporate into their design, keeping in mind that the final piece will be 6”x6”. If you wish to buy basic mosaic tools, it is recommended you wait until day one of class where we discuss which tools are best.
If you already have the following, please bring into class on the first day:
Glass cutters (Recommend: Toyo pistol grip)
Running pliers
Nippers (Recommend: Leponitt)
Safety glasses
Latex or nitrile gloves
Minimum Age: 18
Location: STAA Art House at 320 N. Columbia Street in Downtown Covington.
All materials and tools are provided - $25 material cost included in class price.
