In this introductory workshop, students will explore the theories and techniques of larger scale abstract painting. Zona will lead students through the theories and techniques of color-mixing, effectively applying paint, composing visual space, and understanding abstract language.

Each student will develop their personal expression to further explore the process of abstract art. Students will investigate composition using the formal elements and principles of design and find their natural “mark.” Students can expect to create at least three 18x24” abstract pieces over the course of both days. Zona hopes to provide her students with the tools to explore new concepts, develop a creative voice, and build confidence as artists!
